Away Days
Creative away days that inspire teamwork through film and audio making.
What we offer
We offer team-building away days where staff can bond, problem solve and have fun while making a film or audio project. Each workshop is built on the needs of the organisation, and projects might range from short documentaries about a local area, to audio pieces exploring company values, to more playful formats like recreating scenes from well-known films.
Alongside introducing the basics of film and audio making, the focus is on creating a shared experience - something practical, collaborative and engaging, where people can work together in a different way.
How it works
Film and audio projects offer a simple structure for collaboration. Participants work in small groups to develop an idea, take on different roles, and see a project through from start to finish.
Each group shares responsibility for shaping the work -planning, filming and making editorial decisions together. The days are deliberately unpressured, with the emphasis is on the process rather than the outcome.
Examples
One popular option are our ‘Videopia’ away days.
“If the Academy Awards got you itching to get in front of the camera and finally make it in the movies, then Videopia might well be the perfect first step on the road to Oscar glory.”
– The Guardian
The brainchild of producer Harriet Knowles, Videopia is a hands-on filmmaking experience where participants recreate scenes from well-known films. It has been run at festivals such as Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading, Bestival and End of the Road.
A typical Videopia day might involve:
Choosing a film to recreate and dividing into roles
Rehearsing and filming key scenes using costumes and props
Editing the material into a short version of the film
Screening the final piece together at the end of the day
